Lesson Four: Microinvertebrate Testing
In this interdisciplinary field trip, students collect and identify microinvertebrates in the Menomonee River. The results are used to assess water quality and draw conclusions on how pollutants affect both natural and social systems in Milwaukee.

Lesson Five: Letter Drafting
As a culmination of the unit, students spend this lesson engaging in independent research on a relevant elected official. From information uncovered, students analyze the politician's position on environmental issues and draft letters, either commending or criticizing their efforts to promote environmental justice.
